Inky Goodness
Inky Goodness
Another workshop session; this time focused on inks - acrylic ink, alcohol inks, drawing/calligraphy ink, and India ink. What fun!
First, I did some swatching to record properties and colors of the inks. Since I am already familiar with acrylic inks, I focused on the other ones.
Next, just play. Calligraphy inks are not just for dip pens! Brushing them on and adding water creates some beautiful effects. Once dry, mark-making fun began.
India ink and dad’s Speedball block printing ink was great fun to experiment with. Love the water-soluable properties.
Mark-making heaven!
I do not have a wide selection of alcohol inks; the only colors in my stash are unexceptional and boring. I’m not much inclined to play with these yucky colors, but I do want to try them on Yupo paper. Maybe I will post a photo if they turn out at all interesting.
****************** UPDATE *************
Yupo paper is an amazing substrate! Made of synthetic polypropylene, it is recyclable, waterproof, and tree-free. I experimented with acrylic inks, liquid watercolors, alcohol inks, and calligraphy inks. I had forgotten the fun of moving inks around with an air blower. More experimenting needed.
